Video transcript
Hello everyone.  Welcome to this course about apps.  In week 1, we’re going to kick off the course exploring you.  Yep, that’s right, you!  Why are you doing the work you are doing?  What are the unique strengths that you bring to this learning experience?  What are your values?  Why is this information important to learn about apps?

I think every learning experience begins with the learner and I want you to be successful.  The most successful people know their purpose, strengths and values then know how to apply their learning experiences to the rest of their lives.  This is your week to figure out your purpose, strengths and values and figure out how they relate to this course.

There are 3 parts to this week’s assignment.  This assignment will only be shared with me.  One part of the assignment will be shared on our course wiki.  Scroll down this week’s course page to see what to do next.

Step 2:  Write in your journal
Purpose
What is your purpose?  Sometimes we climb the ladder that leans up against a wall…..but it’s the wrong wall!  If you know your purpose, you won’t take the time to climb the wrong ladder.  In your online journal, write one paragraph that describes your current purpose in life.  Why are you doing the work you are doing?

Step 3:  Complete a survey.  Copy and paste the results in your journal
Strengths
Knowing your strengths can help you get the most out of this course.  You can use your strengths to excel or work to develop your weaknesses.  The first step in this process is to know where you excel and where you should spend time developing your weaknesses.  To help you figure this out, follow the link below to the Strengths & Weaknesses survey.  This survey is free to take and will show you your top 5 strengths and your bottom 1 weakness.  This survey will take you 10 – 15 minutes to complete.

Click HERE to complete the survey.  Click one of the red buttons on the page to get started.  When you complete the survey

  • Copy and paste the results to your online journal
  • Write one thing you can do during this course to develop your weakness

Step 4:  Write in your journal.  Write your values on the Values shared doc
Values
What do you value?  Your values are the things you believe are important to the way you live, work and learn.  They are usually your priorities.  When your values match what you do, life feels pretty good.  Each person has a unique set of values.  Your values may be the same or different than others in this class.

In your online journal, make a list of your values then add at least one of your values to the class MindMup.  Your participation on the MindMup will be anonymous.

You can access the Values MindMup by clicking HERE.
